After graduating from White Bear Lake High School in 1957, Sandy started working at a trust company. She moved to Denver in 1962 where she worked for Colorado National Bank. On 7 August 1964, Sandy went to an all city young adult choir picnic where she met James Shoelen. The two fell in love and were married 2 July 1965. Sandy and Jim loved each other and were married for 57 wonderful years. They were blessed with two children, Michael and Sonia.
Sandy and Jim traveled to 133 countries. She loved quilting and her family. One of her greatest joys was her great-grandson, Owen. Sandy’s favorite color was blue and, when mixed with yellow, she shows off her Swedish colors. Sandy’s family comes from Sweden and we still have many family members there to keep in touch with. Jim and Sandy’s favorite thing to do was their Bible study time every day for many years.
Sandy was preceded in death by her father, Harry Lindstrom; and mother, Aina (Nelson) Lindstrom.
Sandra is loved by her loving husband of 57 years, Mr. James “Jim” Shoelen; one beautiful daughter, Sonia Hambrook and husband Josh; her devoted son, Michael Shoelen and wife Shannon; three wonderful grandchildren, McKenna, Mason, and Luke; one great-grandson, Owen; and many extended family and dear friends. It seemed that everyone Sandra met loved her, and she loved them.
