Robert H. Slaughter, 79, passed away on Tuesday, July 20th at Virginia’s Lakeview Home after a long illness. Born in Waynesboro, Mississippi in 1931 to the late Robert O. and Jennie Mae Slaughter, he grew up in Waynesboro and Memphis Tennessee. Mr. Slaughter graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering degree in 1952. He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega and the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. Mr. Slaughter served in the United States Army during the Korean War and continued to serve in the Reserves until 1960. He was employed by the Shell Oil Company for 39 years as a Chemical Engineer. He served in the community as a member of the Board of Directors of the RPMUD for 23 years and an Emergency Coordinator for the American Radio Relay League, Inc. His interests included being an American HAM Radio operator along with building intricate model ships and airplanes. Mr. Slaughter is survived by his wife, Mary E. Slaughter of Conroe, Texas; son, Robert H Slaughter, Jr. & wife Nora of Spring, Texas; daughter, Teresa S. Evans of Austin, Texas; along with two grandchildren, Melissa and Michael Slaughter of Spring, Texas. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Virginia’s Lakeview Home & staff, Dr. Glenn Berwick, Dr. James D. Pickett & Dr. Downey Price. Services are set for Saturday, July 24th, 2010 at 3:00 PM at Forest Park The Woodlands Chapel with interment following.
