Robert (Bob) Joseph Sherman, 62, of The Woodlands, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on May 17, 2016, after a two year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather as well as a loyal friend and colleague. Bob was born September 27, 1953, in Pittsburgh PA. While born in Pittsburgh, PA, Bob spent all, but the first 2 years of his life in Texas.
Family and friends were the passions of Bob’s life. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 42 years, Susan, and their children Julie (Wayne) Rodriguez, Eric (Brandi) Sherman and Bryan (Kristen) Sherman. He was also the proud grandfather of Jason, Justin and Jenna Rodriguez; Landry and Cooper Sherman; and Emersyn Sherman.
Bob is also survived by his parents, Robert and Florence Sherman, siblings Susan (Mike) Bratton, Jon (Lisa) Sherman and Barbara (Darrell) Fletcher. His brother, Timothy, preceded him in death. Bob also leaves behind many close and dear friends and extended family.
A love of science led to an education and professional career in the environmental and sustainable development fields. More than 36 years of employment with Frito Lay, Brown & Root and Halliburton allowed Bob the opportunity to travel the world. Through his travels, Bob developed a love of English Football, enjoying the opportunity to watch his favorite team, Arsenal, play. A passion he shared with his sons, son-in-law, grandsons and nephews. Bob also loved to ride his bike and he looked forward to bike rides with his grandchildren. Other pleasures of life that Bob enjoyed included reading a good book, a great dinner with friends, a good glass of wine and relaxing by his fishpond.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bob’s memory to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (www.pancan.org) or Water.org.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2016, in the chapel of Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, 18000 I-45 S, The Woodlands, Texas 77384. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent event room.
