He was born in Stockdale, Texas on June 10, 1930. Richard graduated from Floresville High School and received his Bachelors and Masters in Agricultural Economics from Texas A&M.
He was married to Marcylee Adams Wright on January 24, 1953.
Richard was a Korean War veteran serving two tours of duty aboard a United States Navy destroyer. Following the war, he completed his studies at Texas A&M and began a 29-year career in the agricultural equipment industry working for the Ford Tractor Division of Ford Motor Company.
He was a member of Knights of Columbus and had a passion for boating, bicycling, and being around his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Rick Wright and wife Martha, Cathy Hopkins and husband David, Glenn Wright and wife Jeanna, and Carolee Byrd and husband Cameron; grandchildren, Ryan Wright and wife Sarah, Blake Hopkins and wife Stephanie, Rachelle Winters and husband Jason, Brittany Rueber and husband Jeff, Heather Wright, Grant Hopkins, Ross Wright, Nathan Byrd, Nicole Byrd, and Nolan Byrd; great-grandchildren, Cate Winters, Lucy Wright, Clare Wright, Ellie Winters, Mary Wright, Emma Hopkins, Cecilia Rueber, Hannah Winters, Peter Wright (due April 2016), Baby Hopkins (due October 2016) and his brother, William Wylie Wright.
Richard is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marcylee, who passed away on December 19, 2014; parents, Elmo and Floyd Magdalene Wright and his brothers, William Elmo Wright, Daniel Horace Wright and James Hudell Wright.
A rosary will be held on Monday, March 14, 2016 at 12:00 pm at Calvary Hill Mausoleum North Chapel, 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas, Texas 75220, followed with a visitation at 1:00 pm and a funeral Mass at 2:00 pm.
