Peggy Jean Randolph, beautiful mother, grandmother (Mimi), great-grandmother, and friend graduated to Heaven with her two devoted daughters by her side on August 7, 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s, and a short but fierce fight with cancer.
Peggy was born on August 19, 1944 in Crockett, Texas to Travis and Louise Coborn. An only child, Peggy and her mother moved to the north side of Houston along with her beloved step-father, Audie Connell, and attended Sam Houston High School, where Peggy danced on the Houstonettes drill team. After graduation, she spent the first part of her career working at Gulf Oil in downtown Houston and Ben Taub Hospital where she worked as an assistant to the director. The latter part of her career was spent in the title industry where she worked as an escrow officer for a variety of companies in Hempstead, Houston and Conroe, Texas.
In the early 1970s, Peggy met the love of her life, Floyd Randolph, at a good ole’ Texas honky-tonk where they danced the night away, and soon decided to blend their two families. Side by side, they spent the next few years raising their daughters in a home filled with love and laughter in Hempstead, Texas. Eventually, Peggy and Floyd moved to Brazoria where they shared a beer every evening on the pier of their lovely home on the San Bernard River. For over 40 years, they shared a deep love for and unyielding commitment to one another, and in Mom’s words, “We didn’t always have much, but together we had it all.”
Peggy loved many things including painting, crafting and coloring, listening to country music, watching the Astros with her son-in-law, dancing, white wine spritzers, and dragging her daughters shopping where she would spend hours…and hours…and hours trying on clothes only to purchase the first item she tried or nothing at all. After, she would treat them to lunch or dinner where they would wait patiently for her to finally finish her dessert long after the bill was paid. They teased her relentlessly about it but would have waited a lifetime for her.
Most of all, she loved her family, her friends, her little dog Bella, sunrises and sunsets, and life in general. She was considered by all to be the sweetest little thing, and this was certainly true after her daughters left their teenaged years behind. Always wearing a beautiful smile, she will be remembered for her laughter, gentle spirit, kindness toward others, artistic talent and sense of humor.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a fund set up in Peggy’s name for the ongoing Ohio State University studies on research and education for medical staff and general public on how and why to be an advocate for those who cannot communicate their symptoms and pain. https://www.giveto.osu.edu/makeagift/?fund=303492
The family also kindly requests for everyone to remember it’s okay to slow down and just color sometimes, and it’s always okay to dance for they know she is waltzing across Heaven with Floyd.
