Margaret (Pat) Logston Durrett left peacefully for her Heavenly home on December 22, 2015. She was born April 15, 1932 in Montgomery, Alabama. Preceded in death by parents Laura Petty Logston and Edwin A. Logston; brothers Homer Gibson and Kenneth Gibson. Survived by husband Charles Ellry Durrett; sister Ann Hunter; sons Charles Ellry Durrett, Jr., David Edwin Durrett and wife Kay, and Paul Duane Durrett; daughter Margaret Ann Cook and husband Nick; grandchildren Stephanie, David, Andrew, James, Ben and Jack; great grandchildren David, Gavin, Drake and Danielle; and numerous other beloved family and friends.
Pat graduated from Oklahoma A&M in 1954 with a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics, where she was the president of Delta Zeta sorority (1952-1953) and met her husband of 61 years. She loved to dance and he didn’t, but somehow they made it work all those years. She made taking care of her family her life’s work. Her servant heart led her to numerous volunteer organizations including church missions, little leagues, school libraries and the ladies auxiliary for Boys Country.
Pat lived all over the country and made friends everywhere she went. While living in Houston she was a member of Tallowood Baptist Church, River Oaks Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of The Woodlands, where she cherished the relationships she made in her Sunday School classes. Pat especially enjoyed the times with her canasta friends, Ann, Marilyn and Pat.
