A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was born on May 29, 1935, in Henderson, KY, to Benjamin Union Barnett and Dena Crafton Barnett. Affectionately known as Grammy and Grams, she attended Western Kentucky University before taking a position in Washington, D.C. It was there she met the love of her life, Dalles Jerome Pagel, and they were married on February 10, 1957. They remained together until his passing in 2002.
Ann followed Dalles’s career moving to Midland, Michigan, where they raised their three children. Subsequently, they moved to Bay Village, Ohio, where Dalles completed his law degree, before returning back to Midland. In 1979, Dow Chemical Company transferred them to Houston, and they lived on the west side in the Briar Forest area. In 1992, they moved to their home in The Woodlands where they remained for the rest of their lives.
Strong in her faith, she was active for many years in Grace Presbyterian Church. When she moved to The Woodlands, she joined The Woodlands Methodist Church where she faithfully attended service as her health would allow. For many years she served as a volunteer at Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Woodlands and the Montgomery County South Branch Library.
Her family was her life’s most important work and joy which she fulfilled with class. She will be remembered as being a loving mother - resilient, faithful and filled with love.
