Michael Richard Nelson earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from East St. Louis University. In addition, he attended American Flyer’s School in Ardmore, OK earning his Pilot’s license. After 40 years, he retired from the Federal Aviation Administration as a reputable and successful Air Traffic Control Supervisor for the Montgomery County Airport in Conroe, Texas. During his later years, he also was a small business owner of M&D Guns. His passions in life consisted of his love for dogs, motorcycles, guns, and a remarkable attachment to nature and the outdoors. He also adored lakes, rivers, or oceans, being on the bodies of water fishing, or living near them for the peace and serenity. He enjoyed hunting with his brother during his earlier years while growing up. He is an extraordinary man of all trades. His knowledge and sheer talents in his workmanship on any project, maintenance or repair- He completed it with pride and perfection.
Michael Richard Nelson was preceded in death by his parents Richard J. and Eleanor A. Nelson, loving brother to Geraldine M. Marbach, sister, and Joseph J. Nelson, brother. The surviving family members of Michael Richard Nelson are Joyce Christine Nelson, daughter residing in Riverview, FL., Michael Steven Nelson, son, residing in Bandon, OR., Carolyn Ann Nelson, daughter residing in West Sacramento, CA., Michelle Marie Nelson, daughter residing in Houston, TX., Jacqueline Susanne Nelson, daughter residing in Sacramento, CA., Jennifer Marie Nelson, daughter residing in The Woodlands, TX., and Peter Matthew Nelson, son, residing in Spring, TX. Also surviving was his grandchildren Courtney Marie Nelson, residing in Ashland, OR., Alyssa Eden Aunan, residing in West Sacramento, CA., Dain Michael Essary, residing in Sacramento, CA., and Caden William Essary, residing in Sacramento, CA.
