Mary was such a sweet lady.  I remember how polite and kind she was to me, especially when I first came to the Post.  She was always willing to help me in any way that she could.

Duke and family, there will always be a special place in my heart for Mary.  I have such fond memories of Mary chasing around the 5 kids and cooking dinner all at the same time.  She was so amazing.  I wish we could be there tomorrow for the service, but our thoughts and prayers will be with you.

Mary was a rare bird in a newsroom, she was both sweet-natured and witty, but was without the cynicism that pervades that atmosphere. A truly lovely woman in a tough place. Martha Liebrum

No one wanted to do the right thing more than Mary. She was sincere and caring.

It's always sad to hear that we've lost another Postie. I remember the first day Mary spent at The Post. She walked fast, tending to her duties and making sure she was doing anything she could to make things better for everybody, even those outside her immediate duty station. Well, in fact, the whole floor was her duty station. I noted that she reminded me of a dutiful mother and soon learned that she had, what, five kids of her own. Personally, I can say that she never brought anything but a smile to my face. I believe there are many others who can say the same thing.

Rolons -
What a priceless wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and lady she was.  Pat and I would like to be with you, but know that we share your hurt and are hugging you all in our hearts.

Oh, dear, what a loss of a special person who helped make The Post newsroom a close-knit family. Mary knew everybody's name and personal story as soon as they were hired. She always had time to answer questions, whether about work or personal life. She and Pat mothered us all and we are all better for it. She'll live in our memories and often be thought of with an affectionate smile. Our condolences to the family. Middy Randerson (Post 1984-1995) and B.C. Robison (Post 1980-1991).

Dear Rolon Family, the Slocum family all send their deepest sympathies over the loss of Mary.  She was always such fun and a fiesty little thing, and we'll miss the visits with her and Duke everytime Mom came to visit.  I pray you find some peace in this difficult time.

Dear Duke, Larry, Fran, Robin, Cindy, Charlie, Reid, Tina and everyone in the wonderful Rolon family - my deepest sympathy goes out to you all. I would like to thank Duke, a wonderful husband and father.  The children, Cindy, Larry, Francis for sharing Mary with me.  She talked a lot about her life and knew that she was truly blessed to have all of you.
She said she truly had a very good life.  May God comfort you at this time.
