Margarette Wanda McElyea, of The Woodlands, Texas passed away on March 19, 2013. Margarette was born in Henryetta, Oklahoma on October 17, 1927 to Lewis and Pauline Long (both deceased). Mrs. McElyea was a resident of Hobbs, New Mexico for nearly 50 years where she enjoyed fishing, square dancing, and RV-ing. She also volunteered as a Pink Lady at Conroe Regional Hospital in Conroe, Texas. Along with being a devoted wife and mother, she also had a 15 year career as an office manager for Walton Construction in Hobbs, New Mexico.
Margarette is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years: Herman D. McElyea, Sr.; sister, Katy Alton; and brother Eugene Long.
She is survived by: her children, Herman D. McElyea, Jr. and Carol Ann Wheeler both of The Woodlands, Texas; sisters Vonda Bothe (Louis Ray) of Allen, Texas and Stella Cox (Dale) of Longview, Texas; brother Claude Long (Mildred) of Hobbs, New Mexico; grandchildren McClain “Mac” McElyea (LaraBeth), of Conroe, Texas, Mika Lechler (Ben) of Conroe, Texas, and Macey McElyea of Spring, Texas; great-grandchildren Audrey, Evan, and Lukas McElyea of Conroe, Texas, Caleb, Courtney, and Camryn Lechler of Conroe Texas, and Addison McElyea of Spring, Texas; sister-in-law Addie Rider of El Paso, Texas and daughter-in-law Donna Richards McElyea of Spring, Texas.
Margarette will be interred at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Hobbs, New Mexico.
