Dear Mom,
Just a quick note to see how your journey is going. I have little doubt that celebrations were in full swing when you arrived. Good thing you wore your favorite red sparkly sweater and sparkly earrings, that way you fit right in with all of the other shiny people. I imagine Dad was overjoyed to see you. The last 23 months were the longest amount of time that you and he have ever been apart. Tell Dad we all send our regards and Tikka is fine.
I’ve been doing a little cleaning at your house and you will be happy to know that the mystery of the perpetual sticky floors has been solved. Apparently, I placed a bottle of hummingbird feeder under the sink and it has been used in place of Mr. Clean for a number of days. Oops. I have also been washing and folding all of your beautiful quilts. What a lifetime of beauty you have quilted for us. I placed the seashell and pinecone that you had on your dresser in a special box and will only pass them on if I can find someone that will appreciate their simple beauty as much as you did.
Mom as much as I love all of your treasures, I am at a loss with what to do with one particular treasure. Would you please ask Grandma Gill what she would like me to do with her hair? I tried to discard it but was unable to do so, a strange force (could have been Grandma) prevented it. I put it back in the cedar chest so that your grandchildren will happen upon it when it comes time for me to visit you. They are going to think we are very strange. I will attach a card to let them know that while we are a little strange, we are just very devoted to our family and make it a habit to hang on to them as long as we can.
In closing I will tell you that your house is strangely empty with you gone. You are missed by all of us. We look forward to seeing you again.
All our love,
Mary Lou, Julie, Greg and Annette
PS: Gabe and all of the great grandchildren were thrilled to hear that you have recovered all of your memories.
