Lucy was born in Houston, Texas. Lucy’s parents, Lytle and Helen Weaver raised their family in the East End of Houston with siblings Alice, Sarah, and Al. After graduating from Austin High School, Lucy worked as a Bank Teller and eventually moved to College Station to support her husband at Texas A&M. As a military wife, she traveled many places such as Delaware, the Azores, and South Carolina. In the late 1960s, she and Ron moved to Texas City and eventually to Sagemont, where she lived for about 50 years. Lucy was involved in the community and her children’s schools, serving as PTA president at Stuchbery, as a booster for the Sagemont Cowboys, and as an active volunteer for many organizations.
Lucy was a quick learner. She loved Texas History, local politics, camping, antiques, collections, and most of all, people. She never met a stranger and was often mobilizing groups together for adventures and fun. She welcomed kids and adults to her home, sharing her style of southern hospitality.
Like in other areas in life, Lucy faced the diagnosis of cancer with faith and a sense of humor. We are especially appreciative of Grace Elderly Assisted Living, Oasis Hospice, and the many friends she made during her time in hospice care. We also thank those who offered prayers and well wishes during this season of life.
Lucy is preceded in death by her parents, Lytle and Helen, her sister Alice, and her son-in-law, Keith. She is survived by her children Julie, Stephen, and Kevin, their spouses Ginger and Kim, her sister Sarah and brother Al and wife Janet. She was especially close to her nine grandchildren Michael Peterson, Christian and Kevin Combs, Michael and Richard Strom, Katie Howard, Lauren Martin, Joshua and Charlie Peterson and their spouses and significant others Meg, Meghan, Candace, Cori, Avery, Lauren, and Trent. She had two great granddaughters Emma and Macy with two more on the way. She is also survived by many good friends from Sagemont and Houston.
A memorial service for Lucy will be held Sunday, May 19 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home & Cemetery, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, TX 77384, followed by a reception from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
