Linda Graduated from Noxubee County High School in 1968. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Blue Mountain College in 1972. Linda graduated with her Master’s degree in Special Education from Sam Houston State University in 1992. In 2001, she earned her Doctorate of Education from Baylor University in Curriculum and Instruction.
Linda married the love of her life, Elvin Valentine, in November 1972. They settled in Evergreen to raise their family in the country.
Linda was an educator and taught in several school districts throughout her career. She understood the value of education, which inspired her to go above and beyond for her students. Her passion for education radiated in everything she did. She had deep compassion for her students and her love was teaching Special Education. Linda touched many lives, both inside and outside the classroom. Her dedication to her career bestowed many honors and awards, including numerous Teacher of The Year Awards.
Linda was strong in her faith and consistently studied her Bible. She loved to sing and served many years in the choir at church.
Linda was active in several organizations and spent many years serving in Cub Scouts. She was an incredibly talented poet, and spent much time writing. She also enjoyed collecting stamps, coins and rooster memorabilia.
Linda is preceded in death by her husband; her mother, Irene Conn; father, Samuel Conn, and her brothers, William Conn and Donald Earl Conn.
She is survived by her son, Jeff Valentine and daughter, Jessica Murkey; Daughter-in-law, Melissa Valentine; son-in-law, Chad Murkey; five grandchildren, Claire, Scott, Eathen, Riley and Angel; sisters, Betty Jean Coffman, Francis Taylor and Mary Ann Gregg; brother, Cleo Conn, and many other family members and friends.
Her funeral home will be held on Friday September 25, 2020 at First Baptist Church of Coldspring in Coldspring, Texas at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association in her honor.
