On January 9, 2024 Linda Rose Atkins McClain gained her wings to walk with the angels and her Lord and Savior completing her journey of 80 years. Linda was born in Houston, Texas on January 24, 1943 to Albert and Lillie Atkins. After graduating from Jeff Davis High School, Linda married the love of her life Ben McClain, Sr. They were married for 46 years. Together they had 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. Linda spent her early years as a homemaker, later returning to the workforce working at Wise Pool Co. for 27 years.
Linda was a devoted wife, mother, and Grandmommy, also known as G-Mom. Her love for her family and friends was unwavering, always putting other needs before her own. Throughout Linda’s life, she could often be found at ball field, horse arena, or a dance studio cheering on her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was their biggest fan.
Linda loved traveling, eating Mexican food and Blue Bell ice cream, playing cards, and always looked forward to her weekly dominoes game with her dear friends. Her relationship with her Lord and Savior was undeniable. She was a woman of deep faith that was evident by the way she lived her life. She found joy in attending her weekly bible study group and worshipping at The Woodlands Church.
Linda is preceded in death by her husband Ben McClain, Sr., parents Albert and Lillie Atkins, twin sister Glenda Faubus and sister Jean Copeland, brothers Virgil Burks, Carl Burks, and Don Burks, and son-in-law David Brennan.
Linda is survived by her daughters Kellie Brennan and Kimbra Gaby, son Ben McClain, Jr., and wife Sheila. She also leaves behind grandchildren Ashley and Brian Borthwick, Jessica and Ryan Graham, Loren Gaby, Megan Gaby and fiancé Alex Sadr, Brandon McClain and Lauryn Diaz, Tuff and Morgan McClain, Matthew and Emily McClain. Great grandchildren Hudson and Brennan Borthwick, Jack and Taylor Graham, Ava and Violet McClain, Zoe and Kya McClain, Presley and Evelynn McClain, along with many other close friends and loved ones.
Linda’s warmth and kindness touched the lives of many and her presence will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends and visitors at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home & Cemetery, 18000 I45 S., The Woodlands, TX 77384 on Thursday, January 18th for visitation from 4:00 – 7:00 PM and funeral service on Friday, January 19th at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow service at Forest Park Cemetery.
