My Wife, Laura Parada Hurtado-Walls, as many knew her, Lauda, was born to Edmundo Torres Hurtado and Rosa Maria Parada Hurtado of Matamoras, Mexico, on December 4, 1972. She was the second of two girls and two boys. Laura grew up being Laura with a wonderful smile, while being a lighthearted, giving and loving person.
Her family moved to Houston, Texas, in August, 1973, and have been Houstonians ever since. She finished high school at Sam Houston High School in 1991 and went on to attend the University of Texas graduating with a Bachelor of Arts with emphasis in Government, Politics, and Policy Studies. She was proud of her Mexican heritage, the Texas Longhorns and the Houston Astros.
She began working with the Houston Police Department by entering the Police Academy in September 1995. She wanted to help people and be a valued role model to others. As part of the Houston Police Department, Laura worked in many different areas over seventeen years. She was a decorated servant of the people of Houston.
Laura married Bill J. Walls on December 6, 2010, and they resided in Spring, Texas. She loved him deeply and let everyone she met know that. Her conversations were often about him and how much she loved him and how he “completed” her life. He will miss her greatly. Life will never be the same without her. She loved everyone and they knew it. There was never any doubt or questioning that. She lived life to the fullest. She knew and followed Jesus Christ and His teachings. She understood LOVE. She attended The Woodlands Church.
She was preceded in death by her father in November, 2012. She loved her father dearly and missed him greatly. She was warm, genuine, ebullient, lively, and compassionate to all that she met. She made those she associated with comfortable and happy. We will miss Laura terribly, but cannot begrudge her joy at meeting her Savior face to face and being reunited with her father. Thank you for your prayers and support during this time of parting. We love and appreciate you. – The Bill J Walls Family
