He was born in Opp, Alabama on July 4, 1952.
Larry graduated from Opp High School and received a Bachelor’s of Criminal Justice from the University of Houston- Downtown. Larry had a career in law enforcement for 13 years with the Houston Police Department and over 22 years with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. He was a lifetime member of the 100 Club Houston and National Rifle Association and had a passion for police work, back packing, traveling, reading, family time, especially with his granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife, Paula G. Shiver, son, Scotty L. Shiver, daughter-in-law, Sarah Shiver, granddaughter, Lauren Shiver, sisters, Sandra Riley, Gwen Lazenby, and brother, Ken Shiver.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, November 29, 2017 at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, 18000 Interstate 45 South, The Woodlands, Texas 77384.
