Private First Class Kyle Matthew Holder, 18, of The Woodlands, Texas, gave the ultimate sacrifice on November 17, 2010 in Kandahar, Afghanistan. He is survived by his parents Bryant and Michelle, sister Stefanie, and maternal grandparents Harry and Roberta Farrell. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Glenda Holder. Pfc. Holder was born and raised in The Woodlands, Texas, and graduated from The Woodlands High School in 2010. Upon graduating from high school, Kyle enlisted in the U.S. Army and completed basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia in September. Pfc. Holder was an infantry soldier assigned to the 1st Squadron, 38th Cavalry Regiment (Reconnaissance and Surveillance), 525th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, XVIII Airborne Corps in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Pfc. Holder’s awards and decorations include Army Commendation Medal Posthumous, Army Good Conduct Medal Posthumous, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal Posthumous, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and NATO Medal Posthumous. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday November 28, 2010 in the Chapel at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday November 29, 2010 at Fellowship of the Woodlands Chapel in The Woodlands, Texas. Pfc. Kyle M. Holder will be buried at Forest Park The Woodlands Cemetery with Full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you make a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project or a similar charity of your choice in honor of Kyle.
