Karen is survived by her husband of 39 years, Timothy Abbey; her children, Brittany Abbey Nava and Robert Abbey (Gustavo); her siblings, Barbara Rose Bryant (Denny), Dale Rose (Cheryl), Tom Rose (Cindy), Dwaine Rose (Cindi); and her latest pride and joys, Grandchildren Jaxston and Finnley Nava.
Karen was born in East St. Louis, Illinois, on November 28, 1964, to her parents who preceded her in death, Maurice Ayers and Shirley Young Ayers. Karen’s family moved to Houston when she was a little girl where she grew up and attended local schools. Houston is also where she met and married her husband Timothy on December 3, 1982.
Karen loved baking desserts and cakes. Although she never baked professionally, she could always be found happily baking for someone for most any occasion. Karen also loved hopping in the car and traveling on road trips. Especially once she discovered that all roads led to Las Vegas. She loved the lights, glitter, and the people action of Las Vegas, not to mention the elusive chance at striking it rich. Karen also had a deep love of Baseball, particularly the Texas Rangers. She loved attending games in Arlington and following the team to other venues. Karen was so outgoing and made friends with everyone she met. She had many friends and just enjoyed life. Her greatest joys in recent years, however, was watching her grandchildren grow and being a part of their life.
