Born in Shreveport, Louisiana to parents, Harold & Martha Bland, Julie grew up in Shreveport, graduated from CE Byrd high school in 1964, and later attended Louisiana State University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in French. During Julie’s high school years she was an active member of the Broadmoor United Methodist Church, sang in the choir and played the piano for the men’s bible class. At LSU, Julie was a member of the Tri Delta sorority and spent summers in Quebec and France, where she traveled and improved her foreign language skills. After graduating from LSU, Julie joined Pan-Am as a flight attendant, and flew all over the world during her tenure before eventually moving to Houston, Texas, where she married and raised her two children. Julie was a member of the Cypress-Woodlands Junior Forum, where she met many of her close friends and travel companions. She was a devoted mother, a dedicated animal-lover, and an avid traveler with a passion for experiencing the world. She is preceded by her mother, Martha Petty Bland. She is survived by her father, Harold E. Bland, her children, Melissa and Matthew Reid, and her granddaughter Aubrey Juliette Gibb.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Park-The Woodlands, 18000 Interstate 45 South, The Woodlands, Texas 77384.
A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m.
