Dear Harriet,  We just heard of Jerry's passing and are so sad. You all were great neighbors and played such a role in orienting us to Houston.  Jerry was so gracious in providing me transportation to Cooper before I was brave enough to make the drive in the "Big City".  We have many fond memories of his intellect, advice, jokes and sincere friendship.  Our sincere condolences and we will keep you in our prayers.

We had heard of Jerry-san having being hospitalized over the past week, and many of his friends at SJVE sent messages of love and support to help him gain strengths and recover. Yesterday as we were informed of the passing of Jerry, SJVE executives and representative directors were very sad to learn of the untimely loss of your beloved husband. We are sorry that our voices could not reach his years enough to make it happen.

Many of SJVE founders have special feelings for Jerry-san and share a lot of fond memories since the introductory period of Value Engineering in Japan. SJVE was not able to be established and being in existence until today without mentorship and friendship of Jerry-san. In that sense, we are so proud of have him as one of the honorary members of SJVE. 

Not only senior members but a lot of young value engineers in Japan were also impressed by and had great admiration for him because of his outstanding professionalism, gentleness and popularity among the value community. He will be missed by everyone who knows him.

Your pain must be very deep and only wish that we could be there with you. But for now, please accept our heartfelt condolences from miles away across the ocean.

Jerry was a good friend and a giant in the in the world of VA/VE.  His contributions to the advancement of value methodology are legendary.  He is truly irreplaceable as a member of the profession.

Dear, sweet Harriett, you and your family have my sincere condolences on Jerry's passing. From the time I first met you both at the 1979 SAVE conference in Washington, DC, Jerry was a mentor to and resource for me in so many ways.  He definitely made his mark in our VE world, and will be missed!

It was an honor to learn function analysis through Jerry's perspective. He will be truly missed by the value community. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

I'll miss Jerry attending the SAVE Conference and his postive attitude toward helping Value Engineering Professionals. As a pioneer to bring Function Analysis to a new level, Jerry and his colleague Jimmy Carter, were my inspiration to develop my own contemporaray function analysis modeling techniques. My wife and I will have fond memories of having Jerry and Harriet for dinner and joining them for dinner when we lived in Houston.
