John Edward Wendt, 81, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2013 in The Woodlands, Texas. Jack was born on December 2, 1931 in Denver, Colorado to Joseph and Josephine Wendt. After graduating from high school, Jack joined the Navy and served during the Korean War on the USS Kearsarge from 1950-1954. He loved his years in the Navy and had many fond memories of those times and friendships. Jack graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in Electrical Engineering in1958. He worked for Fluor Corporation in California and was later transferred to Houston where he made and worked with many life long friends before taking early retirement. Jack then worked for The Kodak Company for 10 years which moved him to Colorado and New York.
Jack was married to Emma Jean Alexander for 48 wonderful years until her death in 2005. They retired to Kerrville, Texas and then after 8 years moved to the Woodlands to be closer to family. Jack loved and served the Lord. He was an elder and participated in many other activities. He was always patient and kind to everyone, but is also known for his wonderful wit and sense of humor.
Jack is survived by his wife of 3 years, Grace Wendt, daughter Shelli Schmidt and husband Mark, daughter Kathy Stroman and husband Martin, 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. He will be greatly missed.
A service of celebration will be held Wednesday, May 22 at 11:00 AM at TimberRidge Presbyterian Church in The Woodlands, Tx. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for memorials to be made to the American Cancer Society or charity of your choice.
