Seeing this latest post reminded me that I had forgotten to add my 'golf ball story' to the list.  My friend Mary Jane and I played a member/guest together and used the Jim Harrison ball for the round of play.  I kept using my ball through the round, but MJ had to put her ball up because it kept getting her into trouble.
We did spend time discussing Jim and his qualities of life that make him a memorable person in our lives.  We think of all of you often.  Please know that I feel his spirit with me as I go around the course, I just wish he had a little better control of my swing!  We still miss seeing his smiling face and warm welcome!!

My wife and I took a golf trip to Atlanta, along with five other couples. I played The Jim Harrison ball at Hamilton Mill Golf course in Jim's honor.  Kept the ball in play until the last couple of holes when I hooked it into the stream. I hope someone found the ball and has kept it in play in special memory of Jim.

I can see why Jim had a great circle of friends. He was warm, charismatic and had a romantic streak. Jim and Ginger had brought new life to each other. While this time was brief, there is still much to be thankful for.

Though we didn't know Jim, we can truly appreciate his sense of humor and his love for this country. He can rest assured that we will cast our vote for him when election comes next year. I didn't know Jim but hearing his story from others in my office about the radio commenting on his wishes instead of flowers makes me thing ok, he was my kind of friend and a smart one!  I will definitely make a donation in his name for anyone who runs against OBAMA!!!

We met Jim when he was visiting his step-father, Warren Sharp, and their dear friends, Suzanne and Walter Carroll, in Mulberry, FL. We think of  Jim's hearty laugh and sense of humor as we send deepest condolences to all of Jim's family , especially to 'Sharp'.

I think I now know why these last months my intentions to call Jim nagged me.  I thought of him so often and wanted to meet you, Ginger.  As I read every tribute, I could identify and see the Jim that I've known for so many years, from the time he lived off Custer to the time he married and moved to The Woodlands.  Jennifer and Jan, I never met you but I knew you. He adored you girls and wanted his friends to know how beautiful, how bright and later how successful you both were.....and, oh, the proof of that, (can't remember which it was) but there was not a store whose restroom you had not HAD to explore.  How could he say no?  Anyhow, he was a great friend that I was privileged to spend time with in TX, in Chicago, in many places where he exhibited that master salesmanship--from General Mills to Keebler.  Ginger, while I didn't get a chance to meet you, I also felt I knew you through his description of the terrific woman he had met and married.  What a guy!  And I totally love his wish for a donation to ANY opponent of BHO.  I am so sorry that I didn't know of the passing and the services.  I would have been there. A week ago we said goodbye to our friend, Jim Harrison.  We were surrounded by family and friends who came together to share memories and stories of a life well-lived.  Ginger shared her story of meeting Jim and falling in love with a man described by many as a person of great character and faith. Jen and Jan shared stories of their relationship to a man with a generous and giving heart.
  His friends gave small glimpses into the personality of a man who truly never met a stranger and who helped people in so many varied ways.  They reminded everyone that his positive outlook on life was a tremendous strength to any who came close enough.  He was a person who kept his promises and spread his wings over many who needed encouragement.  He lived life to the max and only submitted to his life with the Father after fighting as long as he had the strength. 
 It was with great sorrow that we said goodbye and Godspeed, dear friend.  We know that today you reside in the ultimate green fairway of Heaven and continue to watch over your family and friends.  Many of us received a golf ball in your memory and we hope to use it one day for the amazing shot you always knew we had in us!  Thank you for being a part of our lives and calling us your friend.  We miss you and go around a corner where you once were, remembering your smile and encouragement.  The ultimate peace has come to you!

I am so sorry for your loss...Jim was a wonderful man...I met him 2 1/2 years ago playing golf with him at Lake Windcrest.  Jim was always fun to play golf with and very generous in inviting me to other clubs that he belong to. I feel fortunate to have known him and thankful I did get to see him a few times before he passed away. I will always remember Jim as a very kind and good friend. I am sure Jim is very proud and thankful of the wonderful support he got from his family in battling this horrible disease.

Jim and I had been friends for over 30 years.  It started at General Mills and our paths crossed at various foodservice functions until we both ended up working at Keebler.  I watched him work his magic with people for a long time.  Anyone wanting to learn sales skills, he was the expert.  His charisma was inherent and the energy and finesse made him a winner.  He mentored many, many young individuals in their careers.  They had the opportunity to learn from the best.  His legacy in foodservice is well known by the people who worked with him and for him.  On a personal note, he often mentioned the love and pride he had for his daughters.  Since he has retired, my computer has been full of his emails.  I will miss them very much as they formed more of a bond than one realizes until that connection is broken.  Hearing about his pain towards the end broke my heart.  So rest peaceful, my dear friend, in the arms of God.

I did not know Mr. Harrison, but based on the "in lieu" of posted in his obituary, I wish I would have.  My condolences in your loss of what was undoubtedly a wonderful person.  I hope that even in your grief you can take some joy in knowing he is still touching lives!

We are all saddened to hear of Jim's passing. Through my recent visits and correspondence with Jim I can attest to his courage and extraordinarily positive attitude in the face of a devastating and painful disease. Jim was a wonderful man, loved by all who knew him, and who I and my family were certainly honored to have known. To Jim's family; Jim now looks over you all, free of pain, and you will be reunited with him again eternally.

We only met Jim once. He came to our house and lit up our family room with his great stories, but mostly his obvious love for our dear friend Ginger. Knowing how happy Ginger was through our e-mails to and from her, and my communication with Christer and how he felt about Jim, makes us know how special a person he must have been. My wife and I happened to meet Jim while we were golfing in Scotalnd. We started talking and realized that we were all from the Woodlands and that we belonged to Carlton Woods. He truned out to be a wonderful person to know and in my time of need he was there to offer hope and advice

Our hearts go out to all of Jim's family and close friends.  He will forever be remembered by our family.  He made a profound impact on our son, Jordan.  He was always there for him..rooting him on in all of the tournaments that he played at Carlton Woods.  Even last week, when he was so week and sick, he had his laptop with him watching the scores. My thoughts and prayers goes out to the family.  I worked with Jim at Windsor for several years and I thought the world of him.  He never met a stranger and if you ever met Jim you would never forget him.  He was the best!  I will always remember him and the things he taught me about being in the foodservice business.

I would like to offer my deepest sympathy to all of Jim's family.  To me, Jim was larger than life.  He was not only a friend, but, a mentor who always had me thinking about how to be better.  I cannot simply state in words how much you will be missed, Jim.  However, never forgotten!

Though this earthly tabernacle be dissolved. There is a house that's not made by hands. When you get there let us know how gold the pavement is. Also don't be trying to blow Gabriel trumpet.

As a former TWHS golfer, just thought I'd share that Coach Harrison was one of those people who always would brighten my (or anybody else's) day.  It didn't matter if I was 5 under or 10 over, he always would come up and tell me how great I am and how I was going to birdie the next hole. His optimism was second to none, and you couldn't help but have it rub off on you. He was a pleasure to be around and will be sorely missed.  There will never be another man quite like him.  He's now up there watching over all of us, and I'm sure he's already made God laugh...and probably birdie his next hole. We love you Coach

I only knew Jim in the golf environment but he was always a bright spot in my round regardless of how I was playing.  I can only imagine the joy he brought to those who knew him better.

My Dad and I and our other golfing buddies will truly miss Jim.  He always went out of his way to offer his assistance or share a story with you.  He had the amazing ability to lift your spirits even after a double-bogey!  Our condolences to Jim's friends and family.

Coach Harrison had such a positive outlook on life and taught the boys on The Woodlands Golf Team how to turn any situation into something meaningful.  He taught them what it was to be young men.  I will forever be grateful to Coach for his love and guidance towards my family.  I miss you already, Coach!

Region 807 condolences

On behave of Region 807 (from 1990) when Jim Harrison became our Region Manger at the Keebler Company, we would like to extend our condolences to the entire Harrison family.  Jim will forever be in our memories because of his leadership and inter-personal skills that he emphasized to all of us at work.  Because of Jim, we individually elevated ourselves to be more professional in both our business and personal life's.  Jim always shared with us that in order to improve our salesmanship skills we needed to "make a horse thirsty versus just leading that horse to water".  

I will not be able to make it to the celebration but am mailing a card, the uploaded picture and a check made payable to the USGA (United States Golf Association) for the family to forward to a local USGA pro so they may use it at their discretion to advance the game of golf to some local youngster.
