Melissa was born on June 5, 1956 in Littlefield, TX to parents James and Eddye Sanders. She grew up in Midland, TX and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1973. Following graduation, she moved to Spring, TX where she worked as a dental assistant for 15+ years. In 1996, she went to work as a teacher’s assistant for deaf children at Galatas Elementary. She later pursued her passion as a florist, most recently at H-E-B.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and six grandchildren, working with flowers and in her garden, her beloved pets, and cooking and caring for her family. She was also active with Oak Ridge Baptist Church throughout her life. Her friends and family will remember her as a kind, selfless, and loving person who was always there to talk to and lend a helping hand.
Melissa is survived by her husband, Mark Richerson, and grandson Ryun McRae; son, Bryan Broussard and his wife, Allison, and their two children, Laurel and Lola; son, Chris Broussard and his wife, Jessica, and their three children, Wyatt, James and Morgan; and brothers, Tim and Mike Sanders and their families. She is preceded in death by her mother, Eddye Sanders, and father, James Sanders.
The visitation will be held on Monday, January 6th from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Forest Park The Woodlands and a funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 7th at 10:00 am at Oak Ridge Baptist Church.
