The service will follow immediately at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Jeremy Schulz officiating. Interment will be at Forest Park The Woodlands Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ben Rupp, Adam Rupp, Justin Abshire, Andrew Rupp, Nathan Williams, and Kevin West.
Jim was born March 16, 1931 to Harold and Sarah Rupp in Saginaw, Michigan. The oldest of three children, he had a good childhood where he learned about his Savior Jesus Christ. He led a simple life & in his young teenage years had a newspaper route where he read & delivered newspapers. Afterwards, he would go to Mooney's Ice Cream Parlor for a treat. This is where his love of ice cream & newspaper reading began.
He met Edna Humphrey at Albion College. She was a sweet, fun-loving, red head who was a good fit for his more serious, businessman nature. They married June 12, 1954 in Marshall, Michigan. Together, they had three children, Cyndi, Dave & Carolyn who they raised in Midland, MI where he worked for Dow Chemical Company as a National Credit Manager. When the kids were young, they moved to Sanford Lake and spent time as a family at church, doing outdoor seasonal activities & traveling throughout the United States in various different RV's. When the children were grown, he was transferred to Houston, Texas with Dow Chemical in 1979. Eventually, all three kids moved to Texas too.
He retired from Dow & had a few other short term jobs in the credit industry in Temple, San Antonio, & Austin. He decided to retire for good & they moved to The Woodlands to be near two of the three children. He & Edna enjoyed retirement in The Woodlands for many years & as always, faith & family were their focus. He started having heart complications, so he & Edna became mall walkers for exercise. Edna passed in 2011 & he continued his quiet lifestyle that included mall walking, newspaper reading, eating ice cream & cake for dinner, spending time with family, & of course church on Sunday.
He is survived by his oldest daughter & son-in-law Cyndi & Larry Alexander, son & daughter-in- law Dave & Theresa Rupp, and youngest daughter & son-in-law Carolyn & Rudi Jaehn. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren & their spouses. Christy & Nathan Williams, Ben & Jane Rupp, Sara & Kevin West, Adam & Courtney Rupp, Katie & Justin Abshire, and Andrew & Ashley Rupp. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren who either called him GGP or Grandpa Jim Jim. He is also survived by his sister Suzanne Abbott and brother & sister-in-law Tom & Janet Rupp.
He went to live in his heavenly home at 5:30 a.m. on May 30, 2022, passing peacefully in his sleep. His greatest legacy was his faith. Together, he & Edna taught their children about our Savior Jesus Christ. That faith was passed on to the grandchildren & great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 9191 Cochran's Crossing Drive, The Woodlands, Texas 77381.
