James Morgan Love, Jr., age 75, of Houston, Texas, passed away Friday, May 27, 2022. He studied engineering at the University of Texas. He began his work career at Houston Lighting and Power (now Centerpoint Energy) and completed his B.S. degree at the University of Houston at night school, while working.
During his 12 years there, he created computer modeling programs to project where electrical transmission power lines would be needed up to 20 years in advance. He later built the computer and software operating systems for running the business at Pacesetter Personnel Services. He played accordion and was a member of the only all accordion orchestra in the USA, which was directed by Andre’ Previn, who later conducted the Houston Symphony Orchestra.
Jim always achieved greatness in anything he decided to do. He was the NCAA National Handball Champion in singles and doubles. He played classical guitar and piano like a professional, even though he was mostly self-taught. He was a miniature golf tournament champion many times. He loved building and flying remote-controlled airplanes and helicopters. We will always remember him as a very fun, enthusiastic, and good man, who never ceased to be fascinating.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 35 years, Linda Hill Love; Matthew Darwin Love (son); Madeline Love (daughter-in-law); Dr. Jack Darwin Love (brother) and Nancy Turkel Love (sister-in-law); Dr. Lucy Carole Love (sister); Kristin Marie Palsha (step daughter) and Thomas Andrew Palsha (son-in-law); Thomas Andrew Palsha III (grandson); Kristin Love Roberts (niece) and Dr. Lauren McTaggart-Keller (niece) and Jonathan Keller (niece’s husband); Dr. Eric James Love (nephew); Kevin Thomas Love (nephew); and Harper Love Roberts (grandniece) and all of his dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents James Morgan Love, Sr. and Sara Jean (Converse) Love.
A Celebration of Life ceremony and reception open to all will be held on June 16th from 5-7:00 pm at Churrasco’s Restaurant, 2055 Westheimer Rd, Unit 180, Houston, TX 77098.
