Born in Tuscaloosa, AL, on September 16, 1931, he spent his childhood in Purvis, MS. In 1951, he married Patsy Doggett. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He attended Mississippi State University - receiving a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He founded and operated Mechanical Specialty, Inc., a laboratory construction company, for over 50 years. He was a deacon and active member of Second Baptist Church, of Houston. He served on the Board of Houston Baptist University, and was a member of the Houston Kiwanis Club and MSU Alumni Association. He loved to travel, hunt, and play golf!
James was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy. He is survived by his son Mike, daughter Patricia, grandchildren Scott, Jeff, Chris and Monica, and great-grandson Jack.
