On Wednesday, January 4, 2017, Jack Wesley McPhaill passed away peacefully at the age of 78 after a heavy, and brave battle with cancer. His family and friends are grateful that he is now in the hands of God, free of cancer, and free of pain.
Jack was married to the love of his life, Barbara Klaras McPhaill for 57 years. In all that time, they were hardly ever separated for more than a night or two at one time. Their love affair started when they met in 1955. They couldn't wait to get married on August 22, 1959, as soon as Barbara finished High School in Pasadena, Texas.
The happy couple lived life to its fullest. They enjoyed camping, motorcycle riding, road tripping all over the USA, water skiing, boat racing, pleasure boating, and many other outdoor activities with their daughters, Pamela and Sheryl. They also supported all the activities that their daughters were involved in, namely High School Dance Team. Many life long friends joined in on the fun of their adventures. Jack made sure his family was always on the go. He had a beautiful heart, and was a tenderly loving husband, and father.
Jack loved, and cherished his seven grandchildren. Pamela and husband John Doiron's children include: Josh Doiron, Jessica Doiron, Jacob Doiron, Gerry and his wife Kiley Doiron, and their daughter, Penelope Doiron. Sheryl and husband Brad King's children include: Case King, and Jack Wesley King.
Jack was born to Marguerite and John McPhaill on March 12, 1938 in Houston, Texas. Jack was one of three children: the late John Thomas McPhaill, married to Betty Lacy McPhaill; and, Sallie McPhaill Langseth, married to Richard Langseth. Sallie remained very close to her brother Jack until he made his journey home to Heaven earlier this week.
Jack has gone on before his sister-in-laws: Pat Aulds Garrett, and Nitsa Laudermill Canafax, both of Archer City, Texas; As well as, Betty Lacy McPhaill, and Glynda Quinn Klaras, both of Deer Park, Texas.
Jack had a very long career at Camco Wireline Services in Houston, Texas. He served as Superintendent of Quality Control for most of his life. He retired in 1994 after more than 37 years of service.
Jack and Barbara lived in Walden on Lake Conroe for 30 plus years. They both retired in their late 50s to ride motorcycles in the Sam Houston National Forrest. They enjoyed their boat on Lake Conroe, while most people were at work! They loved to travel, and cruise. They are members of the Lone Star Cowboy Church in Montgomery, Texas.
Jack never met a stranger. He was known as Poppy, Grandpa, and Jackbaby! He was always ready to shake a hand, and give big hugs. Sharing his heart, and affection was one of his greatest pleasures. Jackbaby knew how to make people smile! He will be profoundly missed by all who loved him.
