Gordon Jay Pixler was born in Eldora, Iowa on February 7, 1941. His parents were Harry Virgil and Anna Marie Pixler. He was raised in Steamboat Rock, Iowa with his brother, Virgil Pixler (Ann) of Cedar Falls, Iowa and his sister, Harriet Peterson (Bob) of Altoona, Iowa. After 2 years at Ellsworth College, he joined the Air Force and spent time in Korea. Most of his professional career was with Gulf/Chevron Oil in various accounting and tax departments. After his retirement from Chevron, he spent several years with National Property Tax Management.
Gordon leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Mary, 4 sons and 4 grandchildren. His two oldest sons from his first marriage are Jeffery Gordon Pixler of Durant, Oklahoma and Kevin Jay Pixler of Bowie, Texas. Gordon married Mary Susan Hudgins Pixler on January 19, 1980 at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Houston. They have two sons, and four grandchildren: Christopher Thomas Pixler (Lindsay) of Montgomery, Texas and their children, Jack and Savannah and Jonathan Virgil Pixler, (Amanda) of Buda, Texas and their children, Hannah and Nora.
Gordon and Mary lived in the Spring Branch area of Houston before moving to The Woodlands in 1987. Gordon loved being involved with his boys in their various sports, with Scouting, and with church activities. He had a passion for travel and he and Mary visited much of the United States in their RV. He loved hiking and camping and anything outdoors. Gordon played basketball in high school and college and followed every sport on TV. Being that his wife and sons were Aggies, he really enjoyed the football games and basketball games there. He was also an avid reader. Gordon was blessed with many friends with whom he loved to travel and spend time with. He was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed.
Private services will be held at Forest Park The Woodlands. Facebook live streaming will be available for services on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, The Woodlands, or M D Anderson Cancer Center, Houston.
