I had so many great times on the golf course. I could not tell you how many one hand putts I witnessed. No matter the score jerry was happy to be there.i will think of him often.

I've known Uncle Jerry all my life.  As a child he was always the serious one of my uncles.  I didn't really pick on him or play around much with him because the way he carried himself was "No nonsense".  He did participate in some of the other shenanigans he other brothers would pull on me, but never initiated any.  It wasn't until later in life in the mid 90's that I actully got to know him much better.  He and Pati were in Birmingham and took Joy and I to a hibatchi dinner.  We had a great time.   They came there a few times and each time they did he would invite me to play golf with him and his buddies.  I always did.  So I didn't actually cut up with him until I was older while we were out on the golf course.  Those are great memories.  And while we both loved to play the game, we were just average golfers.  The main thing was the fellowship and the great feeling you get when you can string a few good shots together.  Or even just one awesome drive, or well placed approach shot, or a long putt that you read correctly.   We shared many jokes and cut up quite a bit and as a result became much closer.   One of which I hope to tell to a few of you one day.  It was one we always would remember everytime we reunited thru the years. 

Thru him I got to know Pati better and ultimately became good friends with his stepson Kevin.   I know how much Kevin loved uncle Jerry, and his mom would be (is) so proud of his dedication to him after she passed.  Jerry and Pati are both proud of him today, and my heart goes out to him (and the rest of the family) as we mourn the loss of Uncle Jerry. But we are so lucky we can also find smiles and laughter as we celebrate the memories we were lucky enough to share with him during our lives.   I'm definitely proud to know he is one of the few bright colored threads I see in the fabric of my life.  

I love you Jerry.  I miss you.  And I love you too Kevin. Continue to be strong and in your grief don't ask why, just remember the good times and say thank you for those.  Reach out to me anytime, and I hope I get to see you again one day.

I can remember growing up and getting excited to see my Uncle Jerry because he had his own airplane and would treat us to dinner!  As I got older, I would look forward to seeing him and Aunt Pati because they would always have interesting stories and updates in their life.  Although I didn't see him often, I felt a close connection and feel blessed to have had him as an Uncle. 
 
It is interesting that through a child's eyes he was amazing because he had an airplane and appeared to have it all together, and as an adult, I found him amazing because of his character.  Through my eyes, my Uncle Jerry was strong, peaceful, loving, fun and always carried himself well.

I really enjoyed our last visits together; they were sad times, yet fun and memorable.

Jerry was a good man. I'll never forget him pulling me aside and giving me unsolicited, but very much appreciated, fatherly advice. Now he's in heaven with Pati. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Gerald was as solid a character as God knows to make.  He introduced stability and unconditional love into mom's life at just the perfect time. He was unwavering in his commitment to provide for his new family, often times working two or three jobs to make ends meat if that's what it took. When times were lean I remember him building and selling book shelves out of the garage after putting in many hours at his day job. Most important to me was his unmistakable and unshakeable love for mom.  Thank you GW for being there for her and for us! Your gentle soul will be missed around the house but welcomed in heaven.
