Ethel Shumate Beatty, 91, of Spring, Texas, formally of Waco, Texas, passed away of cancer April 14, 2012. She was born March 18, 1921 in Tyler, Texas to John William and Lizzie Golden Shumate. She was raised at the Waco Children’s Home. Ethel is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, J.C. Beatty; sister Laverne Hutchenson; and brother J.W. Shumate. She is survived by her sons Bernise Beatty and wife Evelyn of Whitney, Texas, William H. “Bill” Beatty and wife Marjorie of Spring, Texas and James Robert “Bobby” Beatty and wife Terri of Tomball, Texas; brother Raymond Lee Shumate of Huntsville, Texas; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Monday, April 16, 2012 at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, 18000 I-45 South, The Woodlands, Texas 77384 and from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Connally-Compton Funeral Directors, 4400 W. Waco Drive, Waco, Texas 76710. Graveside Services are set for 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Oakwood Cemetery, Waco, Texas under the direction of Connally-Compton Funeral Directors. Ethel’s grandsons, Jay, Darren, Mark, Harry, Richard and William H. Jr. will serve as pallbearers.
