Elizabeth Cazares Hardy, 88, of The Woodlands, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born on June 19, 1935 in Houston, Texas, to the late Reverend Manuel Lara and Susie Cazares. Elizabeth was one of 12 children and grew up surrounded by love and faith.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her son Clayton Hardy; her sisters Rebecca Cazares, Olivia Banda, Magdalene Coursey; her brothers Benjamin Cazares, John-Paul Cazares, Barnabas Cazares, Isaiah Cazares, Daniel Cazares, Ezekiel Cazares, Manuel Cazares; and her niece Carlotta Coursey.
She is survived by her loving family: children Beverly Clark, Alma Thein (husband Dale), Robert Hardy (wife Margaret), Ron Hardy (wife Chirley), and Russell Hardy (wife Anna); grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. Elizabeth will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Elizabeth was a hard-working and successful businesswoman who owned and operated Harco Printing and Publishing in El Paso, Texas, for many years. She also worked as a technician for RCA Corporation and as an executive assistant for several companies. She was a role model and mentor to many who admired her intelligence, confidence, and grace.
Elizabeth was a devoted Christian who touched many lives with her kindness, wisdom, and faith. She dedicated her life to sharing her faith through her gifts of ministry and music. As a gifted soprano who began singing at a young age, Elizabeth traveled with her sisters to perform at various churches and conferences and sang often at the Sam Houston Colosseum. She also worked closely with her son Pastor Robert Hardy at Calvary Temple in Porter, Texas, and with her sister Magdalene Coursey at Times of Refreshing Ministries.
Elizabeth was a life-long history student and enjoyed discussing Texas and Mexican history. She had a keen interest in the region and its rich cultural heritage. She also enjoyed mountain climbing when she lived in West Texas. But her favorite pastime was being surrounded by her loving family.
Elizabeth was a person who radiated love to everyone around her. She was kind and generous, always ready to help those in need. She cared deeply for her family and friends, and her actions always aligned with her faith. Elizabeth touched many lives with her warmth and compassion and left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Her life served as a living testimony to the Goodness of God.
A memorial service for Elizabeth will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Crossroads Fellowship, 12110 East Sam Houston Pkwy N, Houston, TX.
