Born in Akron, Ohio on June 29, 1952 to Edwin R. Peck, Sr. and Lou Ellen Peck. The family moved around the country with his father’s career until settling in Cypress, Texas. Ed graduated from Cy Fair High School in 1970 and obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Houston. His professional career began in the land department at what was then HL&P. He later worked in the right of way department for Houston Pipeline Company which later became Enron Corporation. As Director of Right of Way for Enron, Ed was responsible for one of the largest natural gas pipeline systems in the United States. He left Enron to enter the right of way consulting field and formed PRE Consultants. His knowledge and experience with federal rules and regulations and his relationships with the various governmental agencies and tribal councils made him “The Man” to call for acquisitions of right of ways across federal or Native American lands. Ed was a longtime member of the International Right of Way Association and held the SR/WA designation. He served in many positions within the organization to include chapter and region leadership roles but perhaps was best known for his dedication to the International Pipeline Committee. In addition to being a Past Chairman, he also moderated the Committee’s highly popular “Esoteric Chicken Pluck’n” session at the annual education conference for many years.
Ed had numerous hobbies and interests. He enjoyed cars, trucks, and motorcycles. He kept a picture on his refrigerator of his favorite, a 1963 Chevrolet Impala he had in high school. A devoted Harley Davidson guy, Ed rode a 2003 Harley and when traveling felt it imperative to stop at different shops across the country to add to his memorabilia collection. Ed loved the outdoors and could often be found on the golf course or at a hunting camp. He was a Lifetime Member of the National Rifle Association and a supporter of the Republican Party. Ed truly believed in Make America Great Again.
Ed was preceded in death by his father Edwin Russell. Peck, Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years Linda Kitchen-Peck; son Edwin Russell Peck, III (Trey) of Bedford, TX; mother Lou Ellen Peck of The Woodlands; sister Lori Rae Matthews of The Woodlands.
For all who knew him, the booming laugh and black hat will be dearly missed.
