He passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 after battling health issues for several weeks.
The cabinetmaker's son, "Earl" was the second child of Ernest and Melissa Epps. He met his future wife of 66 years at Marshall Jr. High and they both graduated from Jeff Davis High School in 1948 where he played on the basketball team. Earl and Rosalie married on January 2, 1949.
Earl's love of Country Music began at a young age as he played guitar and sang in talent shows. Later, he was a guest singer at dance halls in the Houston area. As time went by, he led his own band in which he played rhythm guitar and sang. In his later years, he was a guest singer at Oprys.
Earl proudly served in the Navy for 4 years from 1952 until 1956. During those years, Earl was still able to play and sing with other Navy musicians. He loved sports, especially the old Houston Oilers, and attended many games at Jeppesen and Rice stadiums in the 1960s.
As a true family man, Earl was always involved in helping his children with their interests even into adulthood. The family enjoyed many vacations togther including Galveston, Dallas, San Antonio, Little Rock, and Big Bend National Park. Earl and Rosalie were devoted to each other and their family.
Earl is preceded in death by his wife Rosalie; parents, Ernest and Melissa Epps, his sister Betty Moore, and his brother Ernest Epps II.
Earl is survived by his sons, Ronald and wife Carol, and Gerald; daughter Melissa Diane Jarratt and husband Steve. Grandchildren, Dylan Gajdosik, Angel Gajdosik, Kyle Epps, Kelli Shewell and husband Charles III. Great-grandchildren, Jacob Gajdosik, Anthony Gajdosik, and Charles Shewell IV. He will be missed by all.
