With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Cynthia “Cindy” Porter, a beloved wife, mother, sister, grammy and friend, who left this world peacefully on December 6, 2024, at the age of 64. Cindy’s life was marked by her boundless enthusiasm, her unwavering faith, and her deep love for her family.
Cindy was born on July 25, 1960, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey to the late Stephen and Elizabeth Lesko and a loving little sister to Rick and Kenny Lesko. In 1984, she married her soulmate, Barton Porter, and together they built a life filled with laughter, adventure, and love. Cindy and Barton were partners in every sense, sharing a strong bond that was rooted in faith, mutual respect, trust.
Cynthia was a proud mother to her two children, Alyssa and Jenna, and son-in-law Hunter. She often spoke of her children with pride, marveling at the individuals they had become. Although she held many titles, “Grammy” to Addison and Bennett was perhaps her favorite. Her love and dedication to her family were the cornerstone of her life.
Her faith was her guiding light and she lived each day with a deep conviction that God had a plan for her. Her faith in God provided her with the strength to face life’s challenges and to find joy in the small, everyday moments. Whether it was a prayer in the morning, spending time in the word with her husband, or instilling a foundation of faith in her family, sharing her love for Christ was central.
What truly defined Cindy was that she never did anything halfway. She approached each day with a spark of enthusiasm, whether she was traveling to new places with her husband, gardening in her backyard, or on a Marshalls shopping trip. Cindy brought joy and fun to countless children through her life’s work in education creating an environment that was fun and instilled confidence in her students. Cindy had an incredible ability to make others feel seen, heard, and appreciated. Her joy for life was a light to everyone who knew her.
Cindy is preceded in death by Stephen Lesko (father), Elizabeth Lesko (mother), Kathleen Lesko (sister-in-law). Cynthia is survived by Barton Porter (husband), Alyssa Porter (daughter), Jenna Smith (daughter) Hunter Smith (son-in-law), Addison Smith (granddaughter), Bennett Smith (grandson), Richard Lesko (brother), Deborah (sister-in-law) Kenny Lesko (brother).

Cynthia’s journey on earth may have ended, but her love, her faith, and her enthusiasm for life will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be dearly missed, but we take comfort knowing she is now at peace, in the presence of the Lord she loved so deeply.
