God called Betty Wang home on March 26, 2017, after a brief illness in Plano, Texas. Betty was and will always be a beloved wife, mother, grandma, mother-in-law, auntie, sister, and friend to all who knew her. Betty was gentle, sweet, kind, and patient. She had a way of seeing the positive aspects of life’s challenges and joys. It is an impossible task to find a person on Earth who did not like Betty after meeting her. And of course, her pride and joy was her family.
Born in Hong Kong, on October 25, 1930, Betty eventually moved to Taiwan, where she completed her university degree. There, she met the love of her life, Frank Wang. On December 22, 1951, Frank and Betty were married, and they celebrated 63 years of marriage in 2014 before Frank passed.
After their marriage, Betty and Frank lived a few years in Taiwan and Brazil. Then Betty embarked on a 30+ year role of supporting and accompanying Frank in his career with the United States Federal Government as a US diplomat and government official. This career took Betty and Frank all over the globe, living for years at a time in Holland, Thailand, Peru, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Singapore, and New York, with return to home base in Washington, D. C. periodically. Betty and Frank’s 3 children were born on three separate continents. Betty became accustomed to moving households and children’s schools, while making new friends every 2-3 years as a way of life. Betty spoke 3 languages fluently and experienced many international cultures as an American. Upon retiring, Betty and Frank decided to settle in Plano, Texas. There, Betty spent many happy years doting on grandchildren and spending time with family and friends.
At her core, she was deeply committed to her family and, together with Frank, provided a shining example of the meaning of "unconditional love".
Betty attended Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Plano, Texas, where she made many friends and strengthened her Faith. Betty is survived by her son James Wang, daughter Marcelina and her husband Richard Wilson, daughter Cecilia and her husband Ken Biggs, grandchildren Matthew Wilson, Christopher Wang, Nathan Wang, Timothy Wang, Summer Biggs, and Sierra Biggs, brother Anming Tang, sister Yihua Tang, sister Jo Wong, sister May Chu, brother Mark Tang, and cousins, nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many dear friends.
