William Kenneth Gardner, age 89, of Wake Village, Texas passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. He was born on January 22, 1935 in DeQueen, AR. He spent all of his working years in the Texarkana area, having been employed at KTAL -TV on Summerhill road for fifty years. Known by his friends as Kenny, he also worked two jobs for a while that included being a police officer on the Texas side. He often referred to those four years as a police officer as being one of the most enjoyable times of his life. As an avid hunter and fisherman, he would often spend his early weekend mornings on the lake with his father-in-law, Frances Upson. Some of his favorite times were spent with family during fish fries, so he made sure they always caught enough fish for the family. Among some of his favorite vacation spots to visit was Branson, MO.
He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Ann Gardner; parents Charles F. and Velma Gardner of DeQueen, AR; one sister June of Louisiana.
He is survived by one son Chuck Gardner of Texarkana; one daughter Teri Lusk of Wake Village, TX; two grandsons Noah Lusk of Wake Village, TX. and Patrick Gardner of Austin, TX; one cousin Mitzi Fuller of Louisiana as well as numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service will be 11 A.M. Monday, October 7, 2024 at East Funeral Home-Moores Lane with Pastor Rex Shores officiating. Burial will follow in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens.
Family will receive friends Monday from 10 to 11 A.M. prior to the service at East Funeral Home-Moores Lane.
