I was his Sargent in the 25 th infantry, C- company 1st of the 14 th Infantry. 1st platoon. I was the squad leader. I would love to hear from a family member. 

Hello, I want to tell you about Tommy, the kind,loving man I knew and loved.
We met in 1979 after my divorce from a 10 year marriage.  My son was almost 5 years old.  I had just started to nursing school.  It was a stressful time for me.  My friend insisted I go to this little club and have a beer.  I am not  a drinker but I went anyway.  She introduced me to Tommy.  I lost close friends in Vietnam and I was honored to meet a soldier who survived that hell!!  I had no idea  how that violence could torture the soul.
We became very close, and yes loved each other.  My father was an alcoholic,
So we could not marry, he would not consider it.  He said he loved me too much.  If you know Tommy you know of what I speak.  
But let me tell you of the 4 years we were together.  He helped me get through nursing school, and I became an RN in 1983.  In our years together he showed me how to protect myself and bought me several guns.  He taught me to shoot and how to handle myself in a dangerous situation.  He encouraged me in school and came to my graduation.  
I in return loved him dearly.  I encouraged him to file with VA for benefits since he was sprayed with Agent Orange repeatedly.  He told me he finally got them.  I nursed him back to health when he had a relapse of Malaria, which he also got in Vietnam.  He had at least two a year.  And I had a dear friend of mine help him get a job at Red River Army Ammunition Plant.  He had been working at a plant making doors.  He hated it.  He loved Red River,
It was perfect for him.
Tommy didn’t want to hurt me but he knew he would have to in order for me to move on.  So the only thing I would leave him for was loving someone else.
He regretted it but I knew he was right.  So I turned my attention to taking care of my patients, my son, my family, and God.  I cried a lot and prayed a lot 
But never stopped loving that sweet, kind loving man.
I met his family several times and really liked them.  LOVE YOU FOREVER SWEET TOMMY.

Sorry to hear of Tommy passing.  I served with Tommy in Viet Nam and was trying to find him.  I remember him with his red hair and laughing. I have some pictures of Tommy, 2 or 3, if anyone would like to see them.  We were fortunate to get out of there with our lives.  Rest in peace friend. Tommy was a close friend and we had lost contact through the years.  He was a very sweet and kind friend.  I will always cherish the days when we were all young and spent a lot of great times together.  He will be missed.  RIP Tommy.  You will be missed by a lot of people.  Prayers to his family.

Sharon, we are sorry to hear about Tommy; so glad he had you to come tend to his house and visit him. If I hadn't been in Colorado, I would of been there for mother, since she doesn't get out. He was a good neighbor and friend.                Ms Walton and Sissy
