Sylvia Harris Allen

Sylvia Harris Allen was born June 25, 1921 in Sasakwa, Oklahoma to John and Ollie Harris. She passed away peacefully, May 11, 2019, to be with her Lord surrounded by her children and grandchildren at the age of 97. She was a member of the Open Door Baptist Church in Queen City, Texas. Sylvia was a former business owner in Atlanta, Texas for many years, along with her husband, Melvin.

Until her health failed, she was active in her church, AARP and many other volunteer organizations. In the early 90's, she started a line dancing group called the Dancing Grannies. They performed all over East Texas.

Sylvia was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, Melvin Allen and two children, Wesley Everett, Sr., and Kenneth D. Allen. Two grandsons, Wesley G. Everett, Jr., and Jeffrey Allen, and one great-great grand daughter, Chrislee Steed, 6 sisters and one brother.

Sylvia is survived by one daughter, Judy Epperson of Oklahoma City, OK, one son Ronnie Allen (Joyce) of Parma, OH, and one daughter in law, Patti Everett of Atlanta TX. Grand children, Jerry Steed, (Christy), Deanna Plunk, Scott Steed (Karen), Jason Everett (Tara), Zack Everett (Ashley), Keeley Dobbs (Andrew), Dibrell Lee, Eric Allen, 30 great grandchildren and 27 great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m until 8:00 p.m. at Hanner Funeral Home in Atlanta ,Texas on Monday, May 13th, 2019 .

Funeral Services are scheduled for Tuesday, May 14th, 2019 at Hanner Funeral Home Chapel in Atlanta, Texas to begin at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Ron Riemar officiating.

Burial will follow in Laws Chapel Cemetery.

The family will be at the home of Jerry and Christy Steed at 16949 Hwy 237, Doddridge, Arkansas.
