Oliver arrived in Jefferson on the bright warm morning of June 10, 1926 as the fifth child of Theo Senior and Wylie Euliene Walker Littlejohn where he joined three brothers and one sister. The family moved to their Linden farm shortly after Oliver's arrival. An additional two brothers and four sisters completed the Littlejohns' family. His father instilled a strong work ethic in his children with his words of "...if you don't work, you don't eat."
Littlejohn was a World War II Army veteran having served in the Philippines. After his Honorable discharge he married his love Katherine Inez Barling. Their first born James Harold Littlejohn joined sister Sandy to complete their family. Oliver was employed by Texarkana Day & Zimmerman Defense Plant until he became a full time farrier. He retired after 42 years as farrier in the Northeast TX and Arkansas area.
Littlejohn was an active horseman and dog owner. In 1962 he organized the Texarkana Trail Riders and later was an active member of Sevier County Trail Riders. The clubs enjoyed many rides to Winnsboro, Plain Dealing, Bloomberg's Cullen Baker and camp outs in the Ouachita Mountains, Big Ben and Colorado's Weminuche mountains.
He moved to Queen City in 2001 and continued Hempley's Cass County trail making with cohorts Bill W., Bill S., Bennie McB. Bob and Paul B. and other friends. They cleared, cleaned and maintained trails for others to enjoy. Littlejohn was the renowned Cass County's Trail Boss. His rides were flavored with jokes, songs, and comedy trails of unsuspected spiders, snakes and bears to trails dotted with golf eggs nest, toll booth and decorated trees of hanging dentures, lost cell phones and eye glasses and Christmas ornaments.
He is survived by sons James Harold and wife, Donna Littlejohn of Amarillo, Chris Littlejohn of Texarkana, AR; daughters Sandy K. Barling of Pflugerville, Shawna Murphy, of Texarkana, AR and good friend Donald Ray Henderson.
Brothers Theo (RIP) Junior and Kenneth Earl Littlejohn of Linden; sisters Alice Euline Coleman and Linda Joyce Blizzard of Atlanta, and five grandchildren , five great grandchildren.
