He was preceded in death by his parents Lea and Gibson Sharp and his brother Larry Sharp.
He is survived by Gayle, his loving wife of 53 years along with one niece and nephew, and brother-in-law and wife, Guy and Tana Ellyson, and many friends that he considered as part of his family.
Mike was a retired barber stylist, and was the owner of Mike's Barber Styling Shop. He enjoyed cutting hair for over 25 years. At one time he was the youngest barber in the state of Texas. He was a member of Northern Hills Baptist Church.
Mike spent many hours collecting and restoring " Baby Boomer" vintage toys along with other antiques, and artifacts. Over the years he made many good friends while enjoying the "art" of trading and collecting. He got to know other collectors all over the United States. They became close friends even though they never had the opportunity to actually meet in person.
As much as he enjoyed his hobbies, everyone that knew him knew his heart was in Evangelism. He loved to share the gospel wherever he went. Nothing brought him more joy than to be able to minister to young couples. He had many stories to tell of all the blessings he received by having the privilege to be invited into their homes to share the word of God.
He found great comfort in the scripture found in 2nd Corn. 5:8 "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord".
It brings comfort to his family, and friends knowing that he now sees his Savior face to face. He loved to talk about the day he would see Jesus, and he spoke often of those who had gone on before him that he was looking forward to seeing again. That must have been a wonderful reunion!
The family would like to thank Hospice of Texarkana. Their loving, tireless caregiving is beyond words.
