Michael Lee "Big J" Johnson, 59, of Texarkana, AR passed away Friday, October 5, 2018. He was born August 25, 1959 in Frankfurt, Germany. After moving to Texarkana, Mike graduated at Arkansas Senior High School. Afterwards, he enlisted in the United States Army. He was employed at Cedar Shake; then got his Associates and became a paramedic and worked as a Jail Administrator for the Lafayette County Jail. He was the previous owner of Big J's Detail and Quickstop. Mike then was employed at the Bi-State Justice Center.
Big J loved to help people and talk with anyone who had issues needing to get off their chest. Mike had a profound love for his family and friends, that permeated when you spoke wit him. He could find good in everyone and always seen the positive and potential of any situation.
Mike's passion, besides helping and loving his children and grandchildren, was being outdoors. He enjoyed being at Albert Pike floating the Little Missouri River, hiking and shopping in Hot Springs, and from time to time, testing his luck at the casino boats in Shreveport.
He was preceded in death by his parents James K. and Bobbie Johnson.
Survived by three sons and daughter-in-law Dwayne and Autumn Johnson of Boerne, TX; Christopher Johnson of Texarkana and Brandon Freeman of Texarkana; one daughter Maria Johnson of Texarkana; one brother and sister-in-law Jimmy and Julie Johnson of Waxahachie, TX; one sister and brother-in-law Linda and Steve Yarberry of Texarkana, AR; six grandchildren, Alex, Madalynn, Christina, Kaiden, Ava and Haylen.
He was loved by many and will be truly missed...
Memorial service will be 3:00 P.M. Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Sylverino Baptist Chruch with Rev. Larey officiating.
