Playing the game Beanboozled, where you try awful tasting jelly beans. I think he was eating a stinky socks flavored jelly bean.   He was always a fun grandpa, even willing to eat a terrible piece is candy to give the great grand kids a good laugh. 

 I lost track.  What I did not lose track of, though, is something Papa said to me during this watermelon marathon.  As he handed me one of the hearts, he said, “Only the best for my family.”  This man didn’t know me, but I was family.  And though I don’t like watermelon, and it all may be the same to me, I am still getting the best part of it.  Only the best for my family.  These are words I will remember forever.  And these are words I will strive to live.  Thank you, Papa, for the lessons you taught me.  Thank you for being my Grandpa.

My heart longs to be with you all right now. I am mourning with you in spirit. I did not have the opportunity to know Papa as long as, or as much as many, if not all of you. But, just like all of you, my life has been impacted by him. Both of my grandfathers passed away before I was born. I never had the opportunity to do grandson and grandpa things. That all changed in 2003. Papa took me in as his own when I married Jennifer. He didn’t have to. I live near a thousand miles away. But he did. Over the years as we would visit, we did grandson and grandpa things together. We fixed a tractor together. Worked on projects around the property. Went for drives into town to get things. Watched cattle auctions for hours. Fished alligator infested waters. But one thing that stands out most to me and that I share most often is watermelon. This was my first trip to visit with them shortly after Jen and I were married. We all discussed how I do not like watermelon. After a while, Papa wanted to take me out to an old friend’s property to show me around. We walked through this area while he reminisced with laughter and sadness. We then came upon a small watermelon patch. He asked, “Do you want some watermelon?” I replied, “No, thank you. I am not a fan of watermelon.” We proceeded to sit in the midst of these watermelons. Papa cut one off its vine. He cut it open and removed the heart from it. What did he do next? That’s right. He handed me the heart. I choked it down. He cut another one up and handed me the heart while talking to me about the heart being the sweetest, the juiciest, the best part of the watermelon. I ate it. There may have been a 3rd and/or 4th watermelon.  I lost track.  What I did not lose track of, though, is something Papa said to me during this watermelon marathon. I met Lynn while I was working at East. He was always such a great peson to be around. I loved talking to him and hearing his stories. My prayers are with the Thomas family.

Judy, so sorry to hear about Lynn.   Not many remaining of the Little family descendants. I know he and my daddy were very close in his younger years. Sorry that we didn’t spend more time with on another.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the loss of your dad.   May time and warm memories ease the pain of such a great loss.

First met Lynn in 1968 on Saline Creek just outside Delight, AR. Made wonderful memories over the next 15 years. He was a big man with a great big generous heart. Always helpful regardless of how difficult or dirty the job, you could always count on Lynn's help. Great sense of humor and a wonderful, infectious laugh, and a great story teller.
He worked hard, treated people with kindness and courtesy. and built a wonderful reputation for just being a good, down to earth man you could count on.
Loved Judy and loved his kids and grandkids. The world needs more men like Lynn.  


It was a pleasure meeting and working with Lynn while he was a member of the Board of Education.  He was always a gentleman.  My prayers are with the family for God’s strength and comfort.
