LaVene was a very special lady. We loved her, her singing and piano playing. She was a blessing to our church in KCK. We're  just now finding out about her passing. Prayers to all of her family. 

We met your mom when she was living in KC.  She came to Bethel Free Will Baptist  Church one Sunday.  We sang I will Fly Away, and she stood in that back with tears In her eyes.  The song reminded her of her dad, he loved the song.  We became friends instantly.  The last time we saw her was when she came for Clyde's celebration of life.  I have missed her, tried to find her.  I know now she is finally in the arms of Jesus.    She was our flower girl when Lloyd and I were married.  Love you LaVene.

I couldn't process it until I sat down to write this, and I'm still having a lot of trouble believing it. But why sit and grieve when I can marvel at the life you lived? Who knew a young lady from a farmer's family in Genoa, Arkansas, would go on to accomplish what you've accomplished? Surviving the Great Depression in the rural United States, traveling to over 80 countries, modeling in Saudi Arabia, working for a Japanese newspaper, teaching kids in the inner city, being the piano player for your church to name just a few. And through all my time alive, you made time to be a loving grandmother to me, Kelcy, Evan, and the rest of your grandchildren. Lives like this aren't lost because they leave a permanent imprint on all involved. If I can achieve a fraction of what you have, I'll consider it a life well lived. So for now, I'll celebrate you and reminisce rather than grieve. I know it is what you would have wanted. I love you Grannybird!

We lost a remarkable woman.  I am happy to have known her.

LaVene was truly in a class of her own.  She was elegance personified. She had such a loving and giving heart and I'm going to miss her. She had so many wonderful stories to tell of her travels, her children, grandchildren, church and all the things God had blessed her with. Her love for all of these things just lit her up. I loved the way she said "Zero". It was a small joke between us.  Without a doubt, I know that in God's time, I'll see her again.  My thoughts and prayers are with her family and everyone  who loved her as well.
