Born in Little Rock, AR on August 14, 1931 to Thomas & Donnie Holiman Gulley, Jane Gulley Jackson passed away peacefully on January 1, 2021 at the age of 89.
Jane graduated from Baylor University in 1954 with a Bachelor’s in English and Spanish. She met Edwin L. Jackson during her senior year, and their love story has spanned 67 years. They married on March 27, 1954 in Little Rock and set forth on their life together.
They had three daughters, Karen, Janet, and Kay, each three years apart. As an Air Force family, they moved frequently but created a warm and loving community in each place they called home. After Ed retired from 26 years of service in the Air Force, the family settled on Oak Grove Farm. For 35 years, they enjoyed the countryside and always had an open door for family and friends. During these years, Jane was also a middle schoolteacher in Hope, AR and an active member of First Baptist Church.
Those who knew her recognized her generous spirit and servant’s heart. She sent hundreds of Thanksgiving cards each year, maintaining ties with the many she cared for over decades. Jane was a prayer warrior, and friends and family would ask that she put their prayer requests on her “hotline to heaven.” Her ministry extended to many thousands of cards written in outreach, “Operation Christmas Child,” philanthropy to St. Jude’s and Shriner’s Children’s Hospitals, and unconditional love for her family.
Jane was beloved and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Donnie Holiman Gulley; her grandson, Jackson Ehrhart; her son-in-law, Sam Parrish; and her nephew, Sam Gulley. She is survived by her husband, Edwin L. Jackson; her brother, Thomas Gulley, and her sister-in-law, Jane; her daughter, Karen Parrish, and grandchildren, Gabriel, Noah and Hannah; her daughter, Janet Huff, son-in-law, Larry, and grandchildren, Emily Jane and Logan; her daughter, Kay Holthouse, and grandchildren Taylor and Nick.
A celebration of life will be held 11am Saturday, May 8, 2021 at First Baptist Church Atrium of Texarkana, TX with Dr. Jeff Schreve officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Jane G. Jackson Memorial Fund at St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital are requested.
