James David Thompson, age 71, of Texarkana, Texas passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024. He was born on January 1, 1953 in Texarkana, AR. He was a past minister for Church of Christ and in earlier days was a Sunday school teacher and worked many years at Payless Cashways. Also was a painter for many years. He loved cooking, hunting, fishing, camping but most of all spending time with his family. One of his passions was working on cars and was one of the most unselfish people on earth. James wanted to join the military but the government would not allow it because he was the sole provider of the family.
He is preceded in death his parents Jim Thompson and Wanda Cornelius; one brother Eddie Jones.
He is survived by his wife Brenda Thompson; two daughters and sons-in-law Joyce and Robert Coulter and Peggy and Joseph Scheick; one step son Johnny and Shawna Hardee; four sisters and one brother-n-law Betty and Charles Williams, Myra Pope, Sandy Dunbar and Billie Jones; two brothers and sisters-n-law Michael Thompson and DeAnna; David Jones and Kathy; Four grandsons Tyler Rackley, Kristopher and Michael Coulter and Mason Hardee; one granddaughter Kylie Hardee. Best friend Ronnie Briggs. Plus numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at East Funeral Home-Moores Lane with Rev. Phillip Spiros officiating.
Visitation will be 1 to 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at East Funeral Home-Moores Lane prior to funeral service.
