James A. " Sampson" Davis

James A. "Sampson" Davis, 74, of Ashdown, AR passed away May 14, 2015 in an Ashdown, AR hospital. Mr. Davis was born September 5, 1940 in Bradley, AR. He was veteran of the U. S. Army and a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his father, James A. Davis and his brother, Bobby Davis.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Davis of Ashdown, AR; mother, Mavis Davis of Texarkana, AR; daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Mark Gilley, sons and daughters-in-law, Bryant and Toni Davis and Chris and Michelle Davis, and daughter and son-in-law, Jodie and Tommy Dutton all of Ashdown, AR; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and James Love of New Boston, TX; 7 grandchildren and their spouses; Matthew and Tanya Gilley, Kacie and Matthew Metzger, Nicky Jones, Cooper Davis, Chelsea Davis, Ashley and Royce Mullins and B.J. Hegwood and 1 great grandchild Emma Metzger and a very special friend Becky Adkison.

Services will be 10 a.m., Monday, May 18, 2015 at East Memorial Chapel - Moores Lane with Rev. Travis Young officiating. Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens under the direction of East Funeral Home - Moores Lane.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
