James Emmett Cox, Sr., 91, of Fouke, AR passed away November 20, 2014 at a local hospital. Mr. Cox was born and raised in Fouke, AR on March 5, 1923 in Fouke, AR. He was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church and retired from G. E. Railcar.
As a young man in his twenties he relocated to Michigan to find work in the auto factories and that is where he met the love of his life, Gretta. They were married July 4, 1945. Mr. Cox was a hard worker who loved ranching and his family. He was always there for anyone who needed help. James will be remembered as a kind and loving man with a beautiful smile.
Survivors include his wife, Gretta Cox of Fouke, AR; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Joe Davis of Kingston, TN; sons and daughter-in-law, James Cox, Jr. of Woodland MI ; and William and Virginia Cox of Fouke, AR; granddaughters, Sarah Cox and her husband, Otis of Fouke, AR, and Rachel VanderMeer and her husband Zack, of Clarksville, MI; grandsons, Jared Cox and his wife Krista, of Texarkana, TX ; great granddaughters, Hailey VanderMeer of Clarksville, MI, and Chloe Wright-Brown of Texarkana, TX; great grandsons, Davin Cox and Maddox Cox both of Fouke, AR; and sister, Abilene Vickers of Texarkana, AR.and a loving and kind caregiver, Nancy Littleton.
Services will be 10 a.m., Monday, November 24, 2014 at East Memorial Chapel - Downtown with Rev. Paul Worm officiating. Burial will be in East Memorial Gardens under the direction of East Funeral Home - Downtown.
Rosary will be 5 p.m. Sunday, November 23, 2014 at East Funeral Home - Downtown with visitation to follow from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
