James Richard Boswell, age 86 of Texarkana, Texas passed away peacefully at the In-patient Unit of Hospice of Texarkana on Saturday, September 9, 2023. Jim was born on January 12th, 1937 to loving and proud parents, Mary and Orville Boswell. Jim's infectious laughter filled a room, and he enjoyed a good joke! Jim was a volunteer for Hospice of Texarkana for over 10 years as well as a U. S. Navy Veteran. He loved donating his time to the Kairos Program leading small groups within the prison system in Christian devotionals. Jim was a member of Hardy Memorial Methodist Church and also enjoyed attending services at Church on the Rock.
Jim was very involved as an actor, director and producer with the Village Player's Club for over 20 years in Hot Springs VIllage, AR where he and his beloved wife Carole retired. While raising their family in Dallas, TX, he was always a soccer coach for his son and daughter and supported them in all of their endeavors. Jim loved cars, especially fast ones and was involved in auto racing as a younger man. He also loved playing golf, attending church and reading the Bible, and spending time socializing with family and friends. Jim will be greatly missed and remembered as a funny, upbeat, wise and entertaining man by his family and friends. He is rejoicing with Jesus and all of his loved ones who made it to Heaven before he did.
Survivors include his daughter and son in law Amy Mohon McAnally and Tommy McAnally of Texarkana, TX, son and his family Brad Boswell of the Dallas, TX area, two cherished granddaughters Ellie Mohon of Coimbra, Portugal and Audrey Mohon of Texarkana, TX, step granddaughters Lakyn McAnally of Texarkana, AR and Bailey McAnally of Gulfport, MS and step great grandchildren Cooper, Ruby and one on the way, Carter.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday September 13, 2023 at Hardy Memorial Methodist Church with Amy Goodroe officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of East Funeral Home - Downtown.
