Born in Minden, Louisiana, to the parents of Harry and Daisy Ferguson, Jack was raised in Stamps and Texarkana, Arkansas. He grew up with two sisters, Daisy Marie Ely (deceased) Margie Delong (deceased) and two brothers, Harry Ferguson, Jr. (deceased) and Bobby Ferguson (Texarkana, Arkansas). He married his devoted wife, LaVaughn, in 1941. In November of this year, they would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. They had two children: a son, Jack Ferguson Jr. of Fremont, CA and a daughter, Lynda Newell of Kentfield, CA, five grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
Jack served in the Air Force in World War II and was a member of Gideons, Int. He was known for his hard work, his love for his family, and consistent involvement in helping others. An excellent craftsman, he enjoyed working in his yard, sailing, road trips and international travel.
He battled Alzheimer's for many years and died peacefully at the age of 85 on October 18th with his daughter by his side. A memorial service was held in Castro Valley on October 26th. A graveside service is scheduled for Wednesday, November 2, at 11 a.m. at East Memorial Gardens with Rev. Craig Jenkins officiating.
