Doris (Peggy) Hawkins, age 80, of Texarkana, Texas passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at her home. Peggy was born December 3, 1940 in Sonora, KY. Peggy loved antique repair and restoration and garage sales. She loved reading, and story and poetry writing. She worked as a Senior Regent of the Mooselodge for many years; raised money for children's homes; and was a member of DAR Daughters of the American Revolution. For the last 20 years she was the owner operator of Needful Things Antique Shop.
Peggy had lots of friends that came just to talk and get her advice on things in life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Opal and Ella Upton; brothers, Albert Upton and Billy Upton; grandchildren, Christopher Farmer, Nathan Farmer and son Darren Maxey.
Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Buford Hawkins; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Sandra Maxey, daughter Sandra Farmer, son, Larry Brent Maxey, sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Jessica Maxey; Sean and Bevin Hawkins; daughter and son-in-law, Chris and Brent James; grandchildren and spouses, Greg and Jennifer Maxey, Nicole Mulholland, Dustin and Brook Brownawell, Aleah and Dustin Bright, Chelsey Maxey and Nathaniel Easton, Larry Brent Maxey, Jr. and Khadija Debk Maxey, Teresa, Doris, Ella, Allen, Kayla Hawkins, Pepper Hawkins, Olivia Miller, Conner Elliot, Justin Bradford and Peyton James Bradford; great grandchildren, Brayden, Baylee, Kaleb, Madisyn, Carson, Collin, Caylee, Karlin, Remy, Vivian, Laila, Easton, Nick, Axle and Abbi.
There will be no funeral services, per Peggy's wishes. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of East Funeral Home - Downtown.
